This car was sold new by York Motors, Sydney to Mr John (J.O.) Sherwood.
Sherwood was an Australian motoring stalwart from a pioneering motor family. He was a driving force in establishing motor racing at Mount Panorama in 1938 and later Warwick Farm. As an elite road racer he competed in the 1938 Australian Grand Prix and was winner of the 1939 NSW Grand Prix/motor Road Race both held at Bathurst, an excellent Midget speedway racer, motor sports administrator and promoter. Director of Empire Speedways, force behind the NSW Light Car Club and later enjoyed a very effective tenure in the role of President of the Royal Automobile Club of Australia.
Finished in Georgian Silver with Tan Leather upholstery, this car stands out among all others.
The Body, Paint and Trim are all in superb condition, with radial white side wall tyres fitted. The car also benefits from being in excellent mechanical condition.
Our firm sold the car to the last owner in 1998 and have cared for it during that ownership.
Power assisted steering, power assisted brakes and air conditioning add to the driving pleasure of this magnificent car.
The original drivers Handbook and vehicle literature document set accompany the car. All wheel changing equipment and small tool tray are intact.
